Air Canada has released the highlights from its Summer 2024 schedule, which features new routes and increased capacity to many destinations.
This year, Air Canada is offering passengers a number of new destinations in Europe and Asia, as well as increased capacity across its network in North America.

This year, Air Canada is showcasing its new routes to Asia and Europe, as well as its boosted service to destinations across North America.
While all of the new routes have already been announced in months prior, Air Canada will offer service on the following new international routes in 2024:
In Summer 2024, Air Canada reports that it is growing its capacity by 30% to the Asia-Pacific region, as well as by 25% to leisure destinations in Southern Europe, compared to what was offered in Summer 2023. Overall, its international network capacity is increasing by 8% compared to last year.
Air Canada will also offer flights to 120 destinations in North America this summer, including new routes to Tulum, New Orleans, St. Louis, and Charleston, amongst others.

Montreal (YUL)
- Amsterdam (AMS): seven weekly flights
- Athens (ATH): 8–10 weekly flights (up from seven)

- Madrid (MAD): new route with up to five weekly flights
- Paris (CDG): up to three daily flights
- Rome (FCO): nine weekly flights (up from eight)

Air Canada Boosts Capacity to Leisure Destinations in Summer 2024
Air Canada’s announcement of the highlights from its Summer 2024 schedule showcases the carrier’s increased capacity to key international destinations.
Since Europe is always a popular destination for summer holidays, it comes as no surprise to see Air Canada offering more flights to Greece, Spain, and Italy.
However, what’s also interesting to see is an increased presence in Scandinavia, both with new routes to Stockholm and increased frequency on the existing route to Copenhagen from Toronto.
As a reminder, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is set to leave Star Alliance as of August 31, 2024, as part of the fallout from its restructuring that saw Air France KLM acquire a 19.99% stake in the airline.
With SAS set to leave Star Alliance, Air Canada offers continued presence in the region for North American travellers who wish to fly direct to Scandinavia with a Star Alliance carrier.
Closer to home, Air Canada is launching a number of new routes to destinations in the United States, which also comes on the heels of a joint business agreement with United Airlines.
In Canada, some of the most interesting developments are new routes and increased capacity to destinations in Saskatchewan, which have seen a reduction in service from many airlines over the past few years.
It’s also nice to see Air Canada offering non-stop service to Yellowknife (YZF) from Toronto Pearson (YYZ), which previously required a connection via Edmonton or Vancouver, or flying with Air North.
Once again, noticeably absent from the Summer 2024 schedule announcement were new or resumed routes from Calgary (YYC).
Last fall, Air Canada reduced service on a number of routes departing from Calgary. At the time, the airline cited ongoing supply-chain issues and the pilot shortage as reasons for the reduction in service.
As it stands, Air Canada offers a single international route to London Heathrow (LHR) departing from Calgary, a single transborder route to Newark (EWR), and non-stop flights to Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, as well as Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray.
