Connie Britton Makes Rare Comment About Boyfriend David Windsor

Connie Britton usually stays mum when it comes to her personal life, but she’s now sharing some rare insight into her relationship with boyfriend David Windsor.

In a new interview with Parade published on Friday, March 14, Britton, 58, opened up about her five-year “partnership” with television producer Windsor, and how their relationship continues to flourish.

“What I was really looking for was a partnership where there’s constant growth, on both sides, and a sort of deepening of each other,” she explained. “And therefore [a] deepening of who I am — and for him, who he is. So it makes me a better mom and a better actor, and just a better person in the world, and the same for him and for what he does. It’s not just, like, ‘Oh, I found true love.’ It’s that I found somebody who I can walk on a journey with that is going to be constantly ever-changing, but also ever-deepening.”

Britton first confirmed her romance with Windsor in an interview with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy in 2023, saying they first met at a 50th birthday party in November 2019.

The Friday Night Lights alum, 55, confirmed her long-term romance during the Monday, January 30, episode of SiriusXM’s Radio Andy. “I have an amazing man in my life now and he is […]

“I walked into his party and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I don’t know a single soul at this party.’ But I was like, ‘It’s OK, I just wanna celebrate him. It’s his 50th birthday,’” she said at the time. “And so I’m talking to my friend and he looks past me and he sees David across the room and he is like, ‘There’s someone here you have to meet.’ And it was like, I’ll never forget that moment because I turned around and I looked at who he was pointing at and I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I wanna meet him.’”

Britton said they didn’t end up properly connecting that night, but that Windsor was “very bold” and sent her an email the next day.

“I have an amazing man in my life now and he is definitely stepping into that more paternal role,” Britton told Cohen, referring to how involved Windsor has become in her son Eyob’s life. (The Emmy-nominated actress adopted Eyob “Yoby” from Ethiopia in November 2011.)

Britton, who was married to John Britton from 1991 to 1995, also spoke to Parade about single motherhood and why she decided to adopt her son, now a teen, on her own.

“I always wanted to be a mom,” she said. “I thought that maybe I would have a biological child first, perhaps. I didn’t know.”

But, at a certain point, she asked herself, “What am I waiting for?”

“I knew that I hadn’t achieved the kind of partnership that I was looking for to have a spouse and a child together,” she said. “And so I thought, ‘This is the time, I’m going to start the adoption process.’”

Connie added: “I went into [that chapter of my life] a little bit blindly, not really fully anticipating what it is to be a single mom and how difficult that is, and what you’re taking on in doing that.”

The Friday Night Lights star noted that at least she had help in the form of “a stay-at-home nanny,” and is now all about helping single moms get through their busy day-to-days with her Hallmark Channel docuseries The Motherhood.

Finding love in Music City! Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere and more Nashville alums have fallen head over heels for their significant others. “Because there are so many single moms out there who are working three jobs and don’t have the money to pay for help, and they’re just split at the seams. … Anyway, this idea just kind of kept with me,” she told Parade.

The Motherhood features six hour-long episodes featuring six different mothers (referred to as “Heroes”). Britton, as host, introduces the experts — home designer Angela Rose, parenting coach Destini Davis and stylist Taryn Hicks — and they all get to work on how to better each mother’s life as she tackles the demands of work, parenting and self-care.

“I’ve always been awed by the incredible energy, strength and love single mothers pour into their families,” Britton said in a press release, “and this series is an opportunity to honor and empower them, and to create an enduring community — a village if you will — because it does take one.”
