Olympian Trinity Rodman was boyfriend Ben Shelton’s No. 1 fan and cheerleader during the BMW Open tennis tournament.
Rodman, 22, stepped out in Munich on Saturday, April 19, for Shelton’s semifinal match against Argentine athlete Francisco Cerundolo, sitting in a private box. The soccer player, for her part, dressed sporty chic in a black T-shirt and a pair of jeans, which she accessorized with a tangle of gold necklaces and a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses.
Shelton, 22, won the match 6-4, securing a place in the event finals that took place early on Sunday, April 20. Shelton ultimately lost 6-4 to Germany’s Alexander Zverev.
While Shelton didn’t walk away with the trophy on Sunday, his romance with Rodman continues to go the distance after their Instagram debut in March.
“I was sure some people would talk about it, but I didn’t think it would be a ‘break the Internet’ type of thing,” Shelton exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “But I’ve always been like, ‘OK, if I have a serious girlfriend,’ then posting about it on Instagram isn’t that crazy.”

He continued, “I feel like for the past 6 months, whenever I would get seen with somebody, people would think we were dating. It’s like, ‘No, we’re just friends.’ Or if I’d hang out in a group of three and it was a guy and a girl, they’d cut the guy out and make it seem like I was on a date. It’s either gonna be I post about my girlfriend or they post about assuming who my girlfriend is.”
While Shelton and pro soccer player Rodman both have busy schedules with their respective training regimens and matchups, they still try to carve out time for date nights even when it “isn’t the easiest.”
“You gotta make sacrifices sometimes,” Shelton told Us. “It’s just the life that we live. The lives that we live right now and for the foreseeable future. I think that you have to have two selfless people in a situation like this, and I think we have that.”
While Shelton will make time for dates with Rodman, they likely won’t be linking up with other couples.
“Not the biggest double date guy, to be honest,” Shelton quipped when asked if he and Rodman would go out on a double date with tennis phenom Coco Gauff and her boyfriend. “[I’m] more of a normal date guy, but I guess we’ll see. Definitely have a lot of friends who are in long-term relationships, but for it to match up where we’re all in the same place at the same time is unlikely.”
