The Holiday has become a Christmastime classic over the years, so it’s only natural that fans are eager to see a follow-up to the beloved film.

The 2006 rom-com follows Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) as they swap houses to get away for the holiday season. Trading in her California lifestyle for Iris’ quaint English cottage, Amanda sparks a romance with her host’s brother, Graham (Jude Law).

Iris, for her part, finds a romantic connection of her own in the form of Jack Black’s Miles, in addition to forming a sweet friendship with retired screenwriter Arthur (played by the late Eli Wallach).

A sequel to The Holiday is not currently in the works, despite 2022 rumors that the original cast was set to reprise their roles in a second installment. However, some of the stars are down to get back into the festive spirit on the big screen.

Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet were already majorly famous before they starred in The Holiday, but the 2006 film is still one of their most beloved projects (for good reason). The Nancy Meyers-directed movie follows two unlucky-in-love women who trade houses for the holiday season. Of course, romance ensues for Amanda (Diaz) and Iris (Winslet) […]

“I think visiting those four — is it 20 years? Maybe 16 years. I’d love to see where they’re at. I’d love to see where they were,” Law shared during a November 2024 interview on Today, noting that they just need the OK from director Nancy Meyers.

“I’m a yes,” he told Today’s Savannah Guthrie. “You need to check in with everyone else.”

After rumors of a second film spread in 2022, Winslet told People that online speculation was “the first” she had ever heard of any sequel news. “I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that,” she told the outlet in December 2022. “Hand on heart, that’s never come up.”

However, she wouldn’t mind returning. “It would be so fun to see Miles and Iris get back together,” Winslet admitted to Entertainment Tonight while shutting down the rumors. “I kind of imagine, like, how cute would their children be? … Tiny Jack Blacks running around everywhere.”

Back in 2014, Law told Glamour UK that he would “absolutely” return for a sequel to The Holiday. His feelings remained the same while talking to E! News 10 years later, stating, “I love the idea.”

As for where his character, Graham, would be in 2024, he said, “I think Graham still has cardigans and glasses, and reads. He’s probably worried sick bout the girls, right? The daughters will be 28, 29.”

Jack Black

Black told Vanity Fair in December 2023 that he loves how The Holiday has become a “staple of Christmastime.” He went on to joke that his Tenacious D partner, Kyle Gass, has “the biggest holiday movie,” as Grass had a small role in 2003’s Elf.

“He’s able to lord it over me — his residual checks continue to roll in for Elf,” he said before teasing that a The Holiday sequel could allow him to beat his friend’s title.

“Once in a while, I slide into Nancy Meyers’s DMs and say, ‘Holiday 2: Electric Boogaloo. Anyone with me?’” he joked.

The director broke fans’ hearts when she shut down rumors of a sequel in December 2022. “So many DM’s about this — sorry but it’s not true ❤️,” she wrote alongside a news story screenshot about the nonexistent project via Instagram.
